Adult Autism Assessments – Pricing & Process
Why Have an Adult Autism Assessment?
An autism assessment can provide clarity and self-understanding for adults who may have long suspected they are on the autism spectrum. It helps explain lifelong patterns in social interaction, communication, sensory experiences, and daily functioning. Assessments can support access to workplace adjustments, therapy, NDIS funding, and strategies for everyday life.
Important Note
The structure and pricing outlined on this page represent a typical assessment pathway. Every client’s needs are unique, and in some cases sessions may differ, or there may be overlap between assessment types to best answer your specific referral questions. Please contact us to discuss your circumstances and receive a personalised quote before booking.
Our Adult Autism Assessment Process
Step 1: Initial Session (100 minutes)
- Comprehensive history and exploration of current strengths and challenges.
- Covers developmental background, relationships, work/study, and daily functioning.
- Can be attended by the individual alone, or with a parent/partner who can share early developmental history.
Step 2: Follow-Up Session (75 minutes)
- Focuses on structured tasks, questionnaires, and discussion.
- May include formal assessment tools (e.g., MIGDAS, ADOS, WAIS-IV, self-report surveys) depending on individual presentation.
Step 3: Feedback Session (50 minutes)
- Occurs about 3–4 weeks after testing.
- Results are explained clearly, with an opportunity to ask questions and discuss next steps.
- Can be held via telehealth or in person.
Step 4: Comprehensive Report
- A tailored, detailed report ($1,400) outlining assessment findings, diagnostic conclusions, and practical recommendations for home, work, and daily life.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required. You can book directly with us.
Will Medicare rebates apply?
Rebates for autism assessments are limited. Some adults under 25 may be eligible under Medicare item 82000 if referred by a GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician.
Can NDIS fund adult autism assessments?
Many adults access funding through the NDIS. Speak with your NDIS Planner or Support Coordinator to confirm whether your plan covers assessments.
Can psychologists prescribe medication?
No. Psychologists cannot prescribe. If medication is being considered, you will need to see a psychiatrist or medical doctor.
What if I don’t have someone from my childhood to attend?
