Mental Health Care Plan | Psychologist
Looking for a Mental Health Care Plan to access a psychologist? Our Mount Waverley-based clinic provides Medicare-rebated psychological services for children, teens, and adults with a valid referral. We offer neurodiversity-affirming therapy, flexible formats (in-person and telehealth), and support for a wide range of mental health needs.
What is a Mental health Care Plan?
A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is a document prepared by your GP that gives you access to Medicare-rebated sessions with a registered psychologist. It outlines the mental health concerns you’re experiencing and the treatment goals.
Most people can access up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year under the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative.
How to Access a Mental Health Care Plan
To see a Mental Health Care Plan psychologist, follow these simple steps:
Book a GP appointment and discuss your mental health concerns.
Ask your GP to prepare a MHCP and referral.
Email the referral and plan to info@amazeinminds.com.au or contact our admin team.
We accept referrals for children, teens, and adults. You don’t need to live in Mount Waverley — we also offer telehealth across Australia.
Medicare Rebates for Psychological Services
With a Mental Health Care Plan, you can claim a rebate for each session:
- Registered Psychologists: Rebate approx. $98.95 per session
- Provisional Psychologists: Not eligible for Medicare rebate
- Rebates are processed after each appointment is paid in full
Our Fees page outlines session costs, out-of-pocket fees, and payment options.
You can also use private health insurance (depending on your cover) or NDIS funding if applicable — but not in combination with Medicare.
Services Covered Under a Mental Health Care Plan
You can use your MHCP to access a range of therapy supports, including:
- Anxiety and stress management
- Depression and mood challenges
- Burnout, grief, or life transitions
- Autism, ADHD and AuDHD coping strategies
- Identity exploration and late-diagnosis support
- Confidence and self-esteem
- Relationship or communication support
Our team of Educational and Developmental Psychologists tailor therapy to your unique needs, using evidence-based approaches like ACT, CBT, and mindfulness-based therapy.
